Meet Rebecca of Flourish Fine Writing

LFS: Tell us how you got started on your amazing vintage postage journey!
Rebecca: I have always had a love of all things vintage and a fondness for sending snail mail. I stumbled upon a little shop around 2008 that had an abundance of beautiful unused postage stamps and I instantly fell in love. I sent all of our Christmas cards and just everyday letters with the envelopes covered in beautiful stamps. My husband and I got married in 2010 and of course picked all of our favorite stamps that told our story to send out our invitations. We had our first child in 2016 and shortly after decided it made more sense for me to stay at home with him and we actually traveled for about a year with my husband, whose job required him to travel frequently. During this time, I decided I wanted to start something on the side, which is when I opened up my Etsy shop! It quickly evolved to include my services curating unique postage sets for clients- which is my favorite part of what I do!
LFS: What's the most common question you get about vintage postage?
Rebecca: One of the most common questions is of course- can I still use these stamps to send mail?? And the answer is a resounding YES! Any unused US stamp will always be worth its face value in postage.
LFS: Are you seeing more brides going this route for their entire guest list?
Rebecca: I frequently work with couples who are using vintage postage for guest lists over 100!
LFS: What is your favorite style of vintage postage? (whether style, color, etc!)
Rebecca: I seriously love it all- but I am typically drawn to the more muted colors and neutrals- but I absolutely love getting the chance to work with more vibrant and funky color palettes too!
LFS: If you could tell the bride ONE thing when deciding on vintage postage, what would that be?
Rebecca: Make sure you are sourcing postage from sources you trust! There are unfortunately a lot of counterfeit stamps and if the price seems too good to be true- it is!!
LFS: Any advice for brides wanting to use you for custom curated stamps for their envelopes?
Rebecca: Make sure to reach out at least 2 weeks before you want to mail your invites (the more time, the better!) Don't think that any detail about your wedding or you as a couple is too small- you'd be surprised by some of the beautiful stamps we can find that might tell your story perfectly- and your guests will definitely appreciate the little fun details and the happy mail they get to enjoy in their mailbox!
